The nurse will utilize critical reasoning and clinical judgment to expedite appropriate care and treatment, assessing patients through telecommunication technologies such as telephone, fax, email, internet, or patient portal. Responsibilities include ensuring proper scheduling, following up on test results, explaining test results and medications using active listening skills, approved protocols, and evidence-based practice, and adhering to the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics. The position also involves participating in professional development, maintaining competencies, and contributing to a professional practice model that includes shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, and professional development. The nurse will focus on patient safety and quality of care by applying appropriate nursing interventions, coordinating care, promoting patient advocacy, and evaluating outcomes. Maintaining knowledge of care teams for coordination, self-management, population management, and communication is essential. The role requires adapting communication style to diverse patient backgrounds and demonstrating exceptional assessment, critical thinking, and customer service skills. Other related duties incidental to the work described may also be performed.
