About The Position

This role involves managing incoming and outgoing communications, monitoring and responding to emergency alarms, and operating various communication equipment. The operator is responsible for maintaining a positive and professional image while adhering to departmental policies and procedures, especially during emergency situations. The position also includes processing requests for hospital-issued pagers and ensuring the safety of visitors and staff by following health and safety policies, identifying equipment needing repairs, and completing incident/accident reports. Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR applicable years of experience will be considered in lieu of education

Responsibilities

  • Process incoming and outgoing communications courteously, while maintaining a positive and professional image
  • Answer incoming and outgoing calls using the proper customer service standards
  • Monitor, respond to all emergency alarms located and/or received in the department
  • Utilize overhead paging for hospital business and operate all peripheral equipment
  • Learn departmental policies, correct procedures as they pertain to alarms and codes in emergency situations
  • Process incoming calls for hospital information basis different codes for emergencies
  • Handle calls, staff and patients/guests during an emergency situation
  • Process calls for service of hospital issued pagers, requests for new pagers and replacement pagers
  • Maintain beeper list and beep personnel according to type of pager
  • Learn all of the different panels, alarms and what they are for
  • Notify the appropriate personnel when an alarm triggers
  • Operate switch keys to make connections and relay calls on switchboard equipment
  • Maintain safety of visitors and staff
  • Knows and follows all Health and Safety policies
  • Identifies equipment that requires repairs and requests and follows up on repairs
  • Completes incident/accident reports according to organizational policy and maintains accurate documentation
