About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician continuously monitors assigned patients, identifies rhythms and artifacts, maintains monitor alarms, and responds to alarms promptly and appropriately. The role includes interpreting EKG strips and ensuring interpretations are validated by an RN. The position is full-time, nights, at Select Specialty Hospital - Johnstown, with compensation of $17.50–$23.55 per hour plus night and weekend shift differentials.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe assigned monitors and ensure alarms receive timely and appropriate responses.
• Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
