About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Johnstown is hiring a Telemetry Technician for a full-time night position. Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. Telemetry Technicians help support patients through this recovery by monitoring cardiac rhythms and alarms and contributing to compassionate, excellent care. The position includes an extensive orientation program. The technician continuously observes assigned monitors, verifies identification of basic and lethal rhythms and artifacts, maintains monitor alarms, responds promptly and appropriately to alarms, and completes EKG interpretations. Strip interpretations must be validated by an RN. The required EKG class and competencies must be completed and passed within 30 days of starting the position.

Requirements

Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the start date in the position.
Pass other tests and competencies required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
