About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital-Grosse Pointe is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician supports patient care by continuously monitoring assigned EKG monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, maintaining alarms, and responding promptly and appropriately. The role is per diem/PRN and includes 12-hour night shifts. Compensation is $24.00 per hour. Part-time and per-diem employees may qualify for 401(k) eligibility after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year. The position includes an extensive orientation program and may offer a path to potential full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously observe assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
• Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
