About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Nashville West is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician continuously monitors assigned patients, identifies rhythms and artifacts, maintains monitor alarms, and responds promptly and appropriately to alarms. The role completes EKG interpretations, with strip interpretations validated by an RN. The position is per diem/PRN, with 12-hour day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and notes that strong performance may lead to potential full-time opportunities.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting in the position.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate and timely responses to alarms.
• Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
