About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician helps support patient care by continuously monitoring assigned cardiac monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, maintaining alarms, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. The position is PRN as needed, with a 7 p.m.–7 a.m. schedule, at Select Specialty Hospital - St. Louis North, located inside Christian Northeast Hospital.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
• Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifacts.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to all alarms as needed.
• Continuously observe assigned monitors and respond to alarms promptly and appropriately.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
