Telemetry Technician - Full-time, Days
About The Position
Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician supports patient care by continuously monitoring assigned cardiac monitors, interpreting rhythms and EKG strips, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. The position is full-time on day shifts, with 12-hour shifts from 7 to 7, in Omaha. Compensation is $21.51–$26.22 per hour, based on years of experience. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and supports career development and personal well-being.
Requirements
- Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting in the position.
- Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.
Responsibilities
- Continuously observe assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
- Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
- Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
- Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
- Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
