About The Position

Inova Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician supports patient care by continuously monitoring assigned EKG monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. The role completes EKG interpretations and ensures strip interpretations are validated by an RN.

The position is full-time on the night shift in Alexandria, Virginia, with compensation of $23.15–$28.00 per hour. The employer offers an extensive orientation program, tuition reimbursement, continuing education, insurance coverage, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure alarms receive appropriate and timely responses.
• Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Continuously observe assigned monitors and respond to alarms promptly and appropriately.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
