About The Position

Responsible for continual monitoring of telemetry units and promptly alerting appropriate personnel of significant changes in readings. This role involves observing and analyzing telemetry monitors, reporting significant changes in rhythms, and completing assigned clerical tasks. The technician will also perform equipment checks, stay current with relevant literature and techniques, and maintain updated in-services. Additional responsibilities include maintaining excellent working relationships, promoting organizational philosophy, demonstrating prioritization skills, respecting patient rights, and maintaining honesty and integrity. The role also involves participating in safety programs, understanding emergency procedures, and applying infection control principles.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous Telemetry Monitoring experience and/or equivalent education in telemetry monitoring and reading required.
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions.
Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals as appropriate to the position.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and/or diagram form.
Ability to define and solve problems and collect data.
Ability to identify and implement components of the Telemetry Monitor Tech process.
Ability to communicate and collaborate with a variety of teams and individuals.
Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations.

Nice To Haves

One (1) year of experience in healthcare with previous telemetry monitoring experience and/or equivalent education in telemetry monitoring and reading preferred.
Completion of Medical Terminology course preferred.
Current BLS certification from a CORALVITA-approved vendor preferred.
Ability to project a professional image.
Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills.
Ability to identify learning needs and teach patients and families.

Responsibilities
