About The Position

Now is your chance to join Maricopa County’s Enterprise Technology and Innovation (ETI) as a Telecommunications Technician! As a key member of the Maricopa County family, this position provides Network Operation Center (NOC) services including Layer 1 and technical support, site surveys, installation, configuration, replacement, maintenance, and monitoring of network devices supporting the County’s converged data and voice network. This role is responsible for physical layer troubleshooting, hardware lifecycle support, and ensuring proper deployment of network infrastructure at County facilities. This position escalates complex routing, switching, wireless, and security issues to Network Engineering team. NOTE: The position participates in a 24 x 7 on-call rotation for incidents that occur outside of normal work hours.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience with the following: Wide and local area networks including experience with common-carrier data network Network technologies including VLANs, NAT, DHCP, DNS, OSPF/BGP, QoS, and VoIP
  • One year of experience with the following: Ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.) Security integrations including 802.1X, RADIUS, guest access, and endpoint considerations Troubleshooting tools including packet capture, spectrum analysis, controller logs, and flow analysis Wireless network environments including controllers, standards, frequency bands and components Layer 1 infrastructure
  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Data Networking, Engineering, or a closely related field
  • A combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience utilizing network management tools such as Solar Winds and Cisco Catalyst Center
  • Experience in an on-call rotation
  • Change management participation
  • CNA certification

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support, problem resolution, planning, and managing of the converged data/voice network that includes wired and wireless technologies
  • Interacts with customers (end users) as a primary point of contact for the network operations team
  • Prioritizes, triages, and assigns tickets that were routed to the network operations team for resolution
  • Implements automated scripts, workflows, and processes for network configuration, monitoring, and management
  • Collaborates with network engineers and IT teams to identify automation opportunities and streamline network operations
  • Participates in network infrastructure projects, providing automation expertise and support as needed
  • Monitors network automation systems and tools and ensure smooth operation of automated processes
  • Updates automation workflows, procedures, and best practices for knowledge sharing and training purposes
