About The Position

HealthCorps is recruiting college students to mentor middle and high school students in Southern Oklahoma. Mentors implement the Teens Make Health Happen (TMHH) wellness club at 1–3 school sites, serving as near-peer mentors and helping teens make healthier choices for themselves and their families. The role involves supporting teen-led wellness activities and leadership opportunities throughout the academic year. Mentors commit at least 8 hours per week, including 3–4 or more hours at assigned school sites for instruction. Full-year placements are prioritized, though some single-semester commitments are available. Mentors receive a stipend based on the number of sites served, distributed monthly, and HealthCorps will work with the mentor’s university to arrange college or course credit or practicum hours, depending on university requirements. The organization also provides ongoing training, professional development, and mentorship, with opportunities to gain experience in public health and education and network with community leaders. Applicants must be within driving distance of Ardmore, Dickson, Kingston, or Madill, Oklahoma.
