About The Position

The Technology Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment technology systems used across Miller Waste Systems locations. This role supports operations by training staff, providing technical assistance, and ensuring all preventative maintenance and reporting requirements are completed in line with safety standards. The position requires strong technical skills, frequent travel, and collaboration with internal teams and vendors.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid “G” Driver’s Licence and be able to travel to other Miller Waste Systems locations throughout Ontario.
  • Strong technical knowledge of equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently and have strong interpersonal, communication, self-management, and organizational skills.
  • Be willing to become a 310T Apprentice or hold a Red Seal/Truck and Coach Licence.
  • Able to work extra hours, weekends, days, and holidays as required.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50+ pounds.
  • Must be a team player.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and be familiar with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment technology devices used on equipment, including safety systems, communication devices, scales, GPS, RFID, cameras, or other technologies used on equipment. Examples of Equipment Technology systems include; GEOTAB, Brigade, Lytx and scale systems such as Loadman.
  • Train Miller Waste Systems’ staff to install and repair equipment technology systems and be available during shop hours to provide technical assistance.
  • Frequently travel to MWSI locations to work on equipment and support Operations and Equipment staff.
  • Provide reports in equipment technology systems and review them.
  • Develop an equipment technology maintenance program.
  • Ensure all preventative maintenance schedules and repairs for equipment technology systems are kept current and completed in accordance with MWSI policy and procedures.
  • Liaise with other departments and vendors in a professional and team-oriented manner.
  • Perform other equipment repairs as necessary.
  • Make recommendations for new technology and the effectiveness of current systems.
