About The Position

NRT Bus, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Technology & Electronics Technician to travel to company facilities, garages, and lots throughout Massachusetts. This role involves troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing on-board vehicle technologies such as video monitoring systems (CCTV), GPS, EDL, MDC, and digital mobile radio systems. The technician will also be responsible for making basic repairs to damaged technology equipment and faulty installations, as well as performing installation, evaluation, and removal of systems and components in fleet assets. The position requires meeting with customers, reading work orders, and examining vehicles to determine repair needs. Additionally, the technician will test system operations, utilize technology software for maintenance, interpret repair manuals and schematics, and complete work orders in the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS). Responsibilities also include following procedures for requisitions, obtaining repair parts, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. Other duties may be requested by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Able to move, operate, lift, and store equipment
  • Able to frequently perform lifting and carrying of vehicle technology components and parts (50 lbs)
  • Able to complete tasks that may require bending, twisting, climbing, squatting, crouching, and balancing
  • Able to frequently enter and exit vehicles with floor level generally from 13 to 66 inches off the ground

  • Comfortable spending some time exposed to heat, cold, water, dust, irritants, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to company facilities, garages, and lots throughout Massachusetts
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair on-board vehicle technologies such as video monitoring systems (CCTV), GPS, EDL, MDC, and digital mobile radio systems
  • Make basic repairs to broken or damaged technology equipment, along with repairs to faulty installations
  • Installation, evaluation and removal of systems and components in fleet assets
  • Meet with customers, read work orders, or examine vehicles needing repair to determine the nature and extent of repairs
  • Examine or test operation of parts or systems to ensure completeness of repairs
  • Utilize applicable technology software applications for system maintenance
  • Interpret and apply manufacturer’s repair manuals, schematics, diagnostic codes and safety manuals
  • Complete work orders for any work personally performed in the Fleet Management Information System (FMIS)
  • Follow proper procedures for creating requisitions, obtaining repair service parts and working shop supplies
  • Maintain a clean and safe work areas
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor
