About The Position

Wiley|Wilson is seeking a Technology Systems Project Designer to join their team in Richmond, VA. This role involves designing telecommunications networks, structured cabling, audio/visual systems, and electronic security systems for various vertical building projects. The position requires close collaboration with senior Technology Systems staff and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality designs and foster technical expertise. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, effective time management, communication, and organizational abilities, with a preference for individuals who enjoy collaborative work and adopt a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

Requirements

  • 3-7 years of experience designing telecommunications networks, structured cabling systems, audio/visual systems, and electronic security systems for vertical building projects.
  • Experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry is required.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit is required, including model setup, linking, navigation, and the ability to develop Technology Systems designs from project initiation through completion.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Organizational and time-management skills needed to manage multiple assignments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's degree or higher in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred, although an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with federal government projects is a plus.
  • BICSI Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) or AVIXA CTS certification is also desirable, as is an interest in pursuing either certification as part of your professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Design telecommunications networks, structured cabling systems, audio/visual systems, and electronic security systems for a variety of vertical building projects.
  • Develop and coordinate Revit models and construction documents from design through completion.
  • Work with senior Technology Systems staff to deliver quality designs and continue developing your technical expertise.
  • Coordinate Technology Systems designs with architectural and other engineering disciplines.
  • Participate in client and project meetings to coordinate project scope and design requirements.
  • Help ensure work meets project quality standards, schedules, and budgets.
