About The Position

This 10-week summer internship program offers students the opportunity to dive into real projects, gain hands-on experience, and shape their future within Barclays' Technology teams. Interns will receive full support, take on meaningful responsibilities, and build lasting connections while discovering the unique culture of the company. The program is designed for individuals in their penultimate year who are ready to grow, learn, and make an impact. Banking is technology, and as part of a Technology team, interns will be at the heart of the business, contributing to the development and maintenance of digital infrastructure worldwide. They will work in an environment that advances machine learning, leverages Gen AI, and harnesses FinTech, learning alongside industry experts.

Requirements

Must be graduating between December 2027 and June 2028.
Must have a GPA of 3.2 or above.
Strong foundation in computer science or a related field.
Passion for programming languages, development tools, and systems architecture.
Ability to thrive on solving complex problems and designing smart, scalable solutions.
Natural ability to bridge the gap between business needs and technology.
Must be enrolled in or graduate with a degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field of study for purposes of the 24-month STEM OPT extension, as Barclays will not offer or consider offering sponsorship for work visas or employment-based immigration sponsorship unless the degree is in a STEM field.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and improve software utilizing various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities.
Develop and deliver high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools, ensuring code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration with business objectives.
Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect sensitive data.
Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
