About The Position

This program is designed for recent graduates or soon-to-be graduates who are motivated and possess a strong degree (or expected degree before June 2027) with a GPA of 3.2 or above. The program offers a 1-2 year targeted, fast-track experience to develop specialist technical expertise in the heart of Barclays' technology operations. Graduates will be involved in designing, developing, and improving software using various engineering methodologies, contributing to business, platform, and technology capabilities. The role emphasizes collaboration, code quality, secure coding practices, and effective testing. Graduates will be empowered to shape how technology transforms the way Barclays works, contributing to advancements in machine learning, Gen AI, and FinTech.

Responsibilities

• Development and delivery of high-quality software solutions by using industry aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
• Cross-functional collaboration with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
• Collaboration with peers, participation in code reviews, and promotion of a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
• Adherence to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
• Implementation of effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
• Perform prescribed activities in a timely manner and to a high standard consistently driving continuous improvement.
• Lead and supervise a team, guiding and supporting professional development, allocating work requirements and coordinating team resources (if applicable).
• Develop technical expertise in work area, acting as an advisor where appropriate (for individual contributors).
• Takes responsibility for end results of a team’s operational processing and activities.
• Escalate breaches of policies / procedure appropriately.
• Take responsibility for embedding new policies/ procedures adopted due to risk mitigation.
• Advise and influence decision making within own area of expertise.
