About The Position

HDR is hiring a Technology Designer II for its Building Engineering Services Group. The role designs integrated low-voltage technology systems that support facilities such as data centers and commercial environments. Working as part of a project team, the designer performs system and electrical engineering assignments, develops construction documents and specifications, and collaborates with project managers, owners, designers, coordinators, and technicians. The role also assists with and reviews other team members’ work across all phases of the low-voltage technology design process.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in low-voltage system design.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Commitment to actively participating in HDR’s employee-owned culture.

Nice To Haves

• RCDD (Registered Communication Distribution Designer) certification.
• Familiarity with MS Project, MS Visio, and Autodesk.

Responsibilities

• Design integrated low-voltage systems.
• Calculate electrical power loads, determine UPS requirements, and design system-related single-line diagrams.
• Complete construction document sets.
• Independently perform low-voltage technology system and electrical engineering assignments, with broad general direction from the Project Manager regarding expected results.
• Write specifications covering low-voltage technology system matters.
• Perform reviews and work directly with owners as part of the project team.
• Assist other Designers, Project Coordinators, or technicians as needed and take responsibility for work in all phases of the low-voltage technology design process.
• Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Project Coordinators or Technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.
