A full-time research technician position is available in a neuroscience laboratory at the CUNY School of Medicine. The laboratory is located in a state-of-the-art research facility and studies ways to improve function after spinal cord injury using pre-clinical rodent models. Research uses brain and spinal cord stimulation to promote neuronal activity-dependent plasticity and tissue regenerative processes. Experiments involve microscopy, neural stimulation, recording electrical activity from the brain, spinal cord, and muscle, behavioral training, computer simulations, and AI-based analytical approaches. The technician will participate in rodent experiments, help train animals to perform motor tasks, analyze research data, and assist with aspects of laboratory management. The role requires working with an interdisciplinary team, using basic computing tools, learning laboratory tasks, and maintaining accurate records and notes.
