About The Position

The pathology technician (prosector) assists veterinary pathologists in autopsy (systematic dissection of animals) for diagnostic, teaching, and research purposes, as well as the general operation of the pathology services. In addition to assisting in autopsy dissection, routine responsibilities include tissue/specimen collection and preparation, coordination of samples collected for teaching and research, processing tissues for further testing, data entry/data retrieval (basic computer skills required), and cleaning/upkeep of the postmortem room facilities and equipment. This position requires a dependable, detail-oriented individual who is not squeamish, can perform physical postroom tasks, and has excellent communication skills. Interaction with outside submitters (owners and veterinarians), New Bolton Center (NBC) veterinary clinicians and students, and other NBC services is common.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science and 0 to 1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • This position is located at New Bolton Center. No public transportation is available.
  • This position is Grant Funded.
