About The Position

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences is in search of a Research Lab Technician II who can assist with an ongoing NIH-funded research on the role of noncoding RNAs in tobacco-related diseases. We look for a competitive individual who has a detailed understanding of the regulatory function of noncoding RNAs in controlling gene expression in health and disease states. The ideal candidate will have working knowledge of and hands-on experience with routine molecular biology techniques, and familiarity with pre-processing and analysis of ‘omics’ data, including RNA-seq and miRNA-seq.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in molecular biology, computational biology, computer sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines.
  • Working knowledge of laboratory equipment and research protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer analysis techniques.
  • Ability to provide routine analysis and interpretation of research data.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Minimum Education: Associate's degree, Specialized/technical training, Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in R and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with bash/Linux command-line.
  • Familiarity with cloud cluster computing.
  • Familiarity with database management.
  • Possession of programming skills.
