About The Position
The Research Technician B/C will provide technical assistance with PK/PD studies in the Penn Vet Equine Pharmacology Laboratory including exercising horses on an equine exerciser and high speed treadmill, and will assist the PRC Barn Manager with horse care and herd health maintenance for approximately 20 horses.
Requirements
- Research Technician B: High School Degree and 1 to 2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Research Technician C: Bachelor's Degree and 2 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist with PK/PD studies by performing IV catheterization, blood and urine sample collection, tube labeling, and data entry.
- Assist with routine maintenance of the equine research herd including minor wound and veterinary care as directed, vaccinations, deworming, hoof care, dental care and animal restraint as needed. Cleaning stalls if needed.
- Assist with Exercising horses on a high speed equine treadmill
- Independently exercise horses on an Equine Exerciser
- Assist with data compilation and verification for research studies
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
