About The Position

The Instrument Technician reports directly to the Maintenance Instrument Supervisor and is a member of a multi-disciplined crew responsible for all operation and maintenance activities of the liquefied natural gas (LNG) import and regasification terminal. Dedication, sensitivity to safety issues and compliance with policies and procedures are essential for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the terminal. This is a DOT position.

Requirements

  • Must understand plant surroundings and can identify relevant equipment.
  • Understand the physical properties of LNG.
  • Possess basic knowledge of safe handling practices, governmental regulations and related technical and safety codes, standards and reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of plant rules and guidelines regarding relevant equipment operations and certification requirements.
  • In-depth knowledge of plant maintenance protocols and equipment diagnostics.
  • Must be qualified in at least one craft skill.
  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Plant maintenance experience in a related industry or military setting is required.
  • Must be qualified in maintaining or repairing at least one of the following: Distributed Control System (DCS), Instrumentation.
  • Technician 2: 2+ years relevant work experience required.
  • Technician 3: 4+ years relevant work experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education in related technical or engineering discipline or related military training/experience is desirable.
  • Experience with LNG or other cryogenic hydrocarbon liquids experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the duties of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal Maintenance Instrument Technician in a 4 -10 or a 7-12 rotational shift environment, including holidays, weekends and nights.
  • Maintains Instrumentation equipment on all pumps, compressors, gas turbines, motors, vessels, utilities, piping, tanks, unloading arms, etc.
  • Maintain the facility recognizing the environmental consequences of actions taken and striving for the highest levels of environmental and safety compliance.
  • Record maintenance data and informs Maintenance Instrument Supervisor of potential problems and failures in a timely manner; works with Maintenance Instrument Supervisor to expeditiously resolve problems and improve plant reliability and safety.
  • Perform all duties applying safety protocols and adhering to regulatory mandates.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
  • Interpret and analyze technical drawings, P&IDs, and schematics.
  • Contribute to team discussions around areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Be able to provide attention to detail, and dedication to work in order to ensure reliability of equipment.
