About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, is responsible for managing and executing exterior maintenance projects to ensure safe, functional, and visually appealing facility environments. This role involves coordinating resources, overseeing quality assurance, and adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The position requires technical expertise in landscaping, equipment operation, and vehicle maintenance, along with effective communication to address facility needs and customer concerns. The Technician supports cost control measures, implements sustainable improvements, and collaborates with internal teams and third-party providers to maintain high standards of service and operational excellence. Area 89A functions as a cohesive unit divided into two teams, fostering collaboration and a strong team spirit. Team members are committed to learning and growing within Walmart, promptly starting daily tasks after guidance. The group focuses on delivering exceptional exterior maintenance, including quality landscape care and mowing, to ensure the facility’s outdoor areas consistently meet Walmart’s high standards. This team values dedication, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintaining an impressive and well-kept environment that positively impacts customer experience.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in lawn care, trimming, mowing, and weed control to maintain exterior facility standards.
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to assess and resolve facility user concerns effectively.
  • Ability to operate, inspect, and maintain powered equipment and vehicles safely and in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA guidelines to ensure safe and environmentally responsible work practices.
  • Competence in managing budgets, sourcing materials, and coordinating projects to meet quality and cost objectives.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to guide teams and third-party providers.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and safety standards consistently.
  • 2 years' experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain exterior facility equipment, including lawn care, trimming, mowing, and weed control, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute scheduled projects, managing resources and workforce needs effectively.
  • Source, approve, and verify materials, parts, and equipment purchases while controlling costs through price comparisons.
  • Perform seasonal maintenance activities such as snow and ice management, shopping cart service, and interior case cleaning.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer concerns, maintaining high-quality service standards.
  • Lead third-party providers, conduct quality inspections, and ensure completed work meets safety and company policies.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment in safe, functional condition, performing inspections and coordinating required maintenance.
