About The Position

Sternberg Chevrolet is seeking a Technician Apprentice to assist senior technicians while building hands-on experience. This role involves learning safety standards and completing training to earn a full-service certification or journeyman status. The work setting can be in automotive repair shops, industrial plants, commercial facilities, or field service locations.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (technical/vocational schooling is often preferred or helpful).
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Ability to stand for long periods, work in tight or elevated spaces, and lift heavy equipment (frequently up to 50 lbs).
Eagerness to learn, strong attention to detail, reliability, and basic communication or computer skills.

Nice To Haves

Technical/vocational schooling is often preferred or helpful.

Responsibilities

Work alongside senior mechanics or technicians to perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component teardowns.
Handle routine tasks like oil changes, fluid checks, minor electrical or mechanical fixes, and part replacements.
Learn to operate hand tools, power tools, specialized diagnostic software, and testing equipment.
Keep the shop or work area clean, organized, and compliant with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EH&S) policies.
Attend required company training sessions, trade classes, or manufacturer-sponsored programs (such as ASE or manufacturer certifications).
