About The Position

Schneider Electric is seeking a highly motivated Prefab Technical Writer to support its Prefabricated Modular Data Center solutions within the Data Center Systems organization. This role will transform complex engineering and project information into clear, accurate, and customer-ready documentation for prefabricated solutions, including power modules, power skids, data halls, all-in-one modules, IT pods. The successful candidate will collaborate with engineering, project execution, manufacturing, product management, technical experts, and other technical writers to develop documentation that supports the installation, operation, commissioning of prefabricated modular data center projects. This position requires strong technical writing, analytical thinking, attention to detail, stakeholder management, and the ability to interpret engineering information across electrical, mechanical, structural, and cooling disciplines.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technical communication, or a related technical field. Electrical, mechanical, industrial, or systems engineering is preferred.
One to three years of experience in technical writing, engineering documentation, product documentation, or a related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex engineering information into clear and accurate technical content.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, technical specifications, and other engineering documentation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong organizational, analytical, and project-management skills.
High level of attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple projects, documentation revisions, and stakeholder reviews.
Ability to collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional, and technically diverse teams.
Understanding of document-control practices, revision management, and formal technical review processes.
Continuous improvement: Identifies opportunities to standardize templates, simplify workflows, and improve documentation quality.

Responsibilities

Develop, revise, and maintain customer-facing technical documentation for prefabricated modular data center solutions.
Create installation manuals covering enclosure installation, electrical connections, hydraulic connections, and other project-specific installation requirements.
Develop operation manuals, technical specifications, and sequence-of-operation documents for the systems and equipment incorporated into each solution.
Clearly document procedures for operating primary equipment and provide appropriate references to original equipment manufacturer documentation.
Translate complex engineering content into clear, concise, and easy-to-understand instructions for technical audiences.
Develop and update technical images, diagrams, line art, tables, and other visual content required for final documentation.
Work closely with project engineers, technical leads, subject-matter experts, factory personnel, R&D, product management, and project teams to gather and validate technical information.
Interpret engineering packages that may include 3D models, structural specifications, electrical specifications, cooling specifications, and auxiliary equipment information.
Conduct working sessions with subject-matter experts to resolve technical questions and documentation gaps.
Support formal documentation reviews and release approvals.
Ensure documentation complies with applicable corporate standards, regulatory requirements, terminology guidelines, and localization needs.
Maintain a high level of consistency, accuracy, usability, and quality across all project documentation.
Manage document revisions, version control, release status, and updates in alignment with project and product lifecycle milestones.
Help establish standardized Prefab documentation formats, templates, style guidelines, and reusable content.
Prepare final approved documentation for release and upload it to the appropriate document repository.
Ensure final documentation is included in project handover packages.
Support publication and localization activities when documentation is required in additional languages.
Work independently on assigned projects while collaborating with the broader Data Center Systems technical-writing community.
