ELITS is now looking for a Technical Writer in the Software Development field for our operations in Montreal. We’re looking for a Technical Writer who combines strong technical insight with a passion for clear, customer-focused communication. In this role, you’ll create and maintain high-quality product documentation delivered directly to customers. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, architects, and product experts, ensuring every document helps users truly understand and get value from the product — not just explains features. We’re seeking someone who takes pride in translating complex technology into meaningful, user-centered information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a software or telecommunications environment.
  • Strong technical aptitude and ability to quickly grasp complex products, architectures, and tools.
  • Experience producing documentation for software, platforms, or network systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, version control, and standard authoring tools (e.g., MS Word, Confluence, Jira, Acrobat, FrameMaker, MadCap Flare, or similar).
  • Excellent English writing skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • A genuine passion for helping users succeed through well-structured, empathetic documentation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with XML or structured authoring systems.
  • Exposure to telecom or large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Knowledge of style guide principles

Responsibilities

  • Research deeply to understand how our technical solutions work and how customers use them.
  • Write and maintain product documentation for delivery to customers, including user and system administration guides, operations manuals, and release documentation.
  • Collaborate with Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) and cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
  • Put yourself in the customer’s shoes to craft documentation that’s clear, accurate, and actionable.
  • Combine written content with visuals, diagrams, and examples to enhance comprehension.
  • Ensure documentation meets company and industry standards for consistency and tone.
  • Manage document revisions using version control systems.
