About The Position

Altamira Technologies is seeking a mid-level Technical Writer to join their team. This role supports key activities in defense against emerging threats in the cybersecurity domain, contributing to a team focused on preventing and eradicating threats to critical U.S. systems. The company, headquartered in McLean, Virginia, has a history of providing innovative solutions to the U.S. National Security community, focusing on common standards in architecture, data, and security.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BS) in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven (7) years’ experience as a Technical Writer in programs of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, or a Computer Science degree.
  • Seven plus (7+) years’ experience in two or more of the following: designing/implementing machine learning, data mining, advanced analytical algorithms, advanced statistical analysis, artificial intelligence, or software engineering with data analysis software (R, Python, SAS, MATLAB).
  • Experience with Windows server management and Power BI Report Service.
  • Proficiency with Python/Jupyter Notebooks, SQL and relational databases, ElasticSearch/Kibana/OpenSearch.
  • Background working with analyst teams including conducting data analysis and creating data visualizations.
  • Experience working within a cybersecurity mission environment using tools and capabilities to generate threat intelligence. This includes working with cybersecurity analyst teams to perform data analysis and a deep understanding of adversary tradecraft.
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, similar field from an accredited college or university.
  • Seven plus (7+) years’ experience working as a Technical Writer.
  • Experience using Confluence.
  • Experience using tools to create templates for documentation.
  • Ability to work across cross-functional teams and thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of additional technical writing experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • A master’s degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
  • Experience with Java is also a plus.
  • Experience with graph analytics, data pipelines, and IP-based network data is a plus, but not required.
  • Background in cybersecurity is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Create documentation for a technical program to include user guides/reference manuals/capability training materials, requirements documents, reports, standard operating procedures (SOPs), briefings etc for consumption by both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Create document templates as needed for efficiency.
  • Take ownership of existing documentation to ensure it is continually updated in support of an optimized workflow ensuring knowledge management.
  • Own the process of routing technical documentation to ensure accuracy with technical team members.
  • Work in close partnership with subject matter experts, system and software engineers, test engineers and analysts.
