About The Position

Teledyne Digital Imaging is a subsidiary of Teledyne Technologies Inc., specializing in the manufacture, design, research, and development of high-performance CMOS and CCD image sensors and modular expandable cameras. Their products are used worldwide in various applications including machine vision, document scanning, image capture, surveillance, process monitoring, manufacturing inspection, medical imaging, and multimedia. As part of their growth, they are recruiting a Technical Writer for Imaging Systems & Software in Montreal. This role contributes to creating and maintaining high-quality, accurate, user-focused technical documentation for their imaging product portfolio, including software development kits (image processing and artificial intelligence), high-performance cameras, and frame grabber boards. The position also involves contributing to the design and evolution of an AI-enabled documentation infrastructure, optimizing content for both human users and AI-based assistants.

Requirements

  • 1–5 years of experience in technical writing.
  • Familiarity with AI assisted documentation tools and techniques (content automation, structured content, AI search or retrieval assisted documentation).
  • Exposure to the development or integration of conversational agents (chatbots) or AI driven user assistance tools, including documentation or content preparation for such systems.
  • Experience with content management systems (MadCap Flare or equivalent).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Visio.
  • Basic experience with image editing tools for diagrams and screenshots.
  • Ability to read and reuse developer documentation or code comments (Python, C++, or .NET knowledge is an asset).
  • Good interviewing skills and ability to clarify technical information with engineers.
  • Ability to learn complex technical concepts and adapt documentation to different audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English and French.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience documenting software hardware products or SDK based systems.
  • Interest in AI enabled documentation tools and automation.
  • Experience in a structured engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain reference manuals, user guides, and technical documentation for imaging software and hardware products.
  • Work closely with engineering teams and product managers to understand products and documentation needs.
  • Design, implement, and maintain an AI based documentation infrastructure, including content structuring, reuse, and AI readiness.
  • Produce clear and technically accurate documentation in English for developers, system integrators, and end users.
  • Deliver documentation in multiple electronic formats (PDF, compiled HTML, online help systems).
  • Validate documentation accuracy by following product workflows and performing basic product usage and verification.
  • Gather and relay feedback from documentation work to engineering and product teams to help improve product usability.
  • Participate in technical walkthroughs, product reviews, and documentation planning sessions.
