About The Position

The Technical Support Integration Specialist provides frontline integration support for end-user computing at acquired sites. The role manages the full lifecycle of end-user equipment, from procurement and configuration through physical setup and validation, and is the primary point of contact for onboarding acquired employees to VSE’s technology environment. The goal is to ensure users are equipped, trained, and have validated access to required VSE systems on their first day of integration. The position requires a strong customer focus and the ability to remain effective under pressure during high-visibility go-live events and time-sensitive integration deadlines. This is a field-based position requiring travel to domestic and international acquisition sites approximately 80% of the time. Overnight, weekend, and on-call coverage is required during go-live and hyper care periods. The specialist owns the end-user computing workstream for assigned integrations, coordinates equipment procurement and deployment, configures devices, sets up workstations, trains users, verifies system access, and maintains integration documentation and readiness reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related field, or an additional three years of specific work experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Five years of relevant or technical work experience, including at least two years supporting IT integration, migration, or large-scale deployment projects.
  • Ability to engage on-site and remotely and travel to acquisition locations approximately 80% of the time.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and complete assignments within estimated timeframes.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to be on-call and work flexible schedules, including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to work overnights, weekends, and late shifts as needed to ensure project completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Information technology certification equivalent to CompTIA Tech+, A+, Network+, Security+, or MCP.
  • Experience setting up, repairing, and modifying Windows desktops and laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
  • Technical support and service desk experience supporting Windows and Apple systems.
  • Experience with command-line scripting, such as PowerShell or VBScript.
  • Action-oriented and self-motivated approach, with the ability to improve the Integration team’s effectiveness, performance, and efficiency.
  • Knowledge and experience with desktop, server, and network management, software deployment, and tracking tools.
  • Strong knowledge of network printer installation, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of service desk ticketing systems and general service desk operations.
  • Knowledge of project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Planner, Smartsheet, Jira, or Asana.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-user computing workstream for assigned acquisition integrations from planning through completion, with limited day-to-day direction.
  • Conduct pre-acquisition site assessments, inventory legacy end-user environments, capture user counts by role and function, and identify deployment constraints.
  • Develop site-specific end-user integration plans, including equipment bills of materials, cost estimates, deployment sequences, and go-live timelines.
  • Track tasks, dependencies, milestones, and site readiness in VSE project management tools; report progress, risks, and blockers, and escalate threats to go-live dates.
  • Confirm user readiness against go-live exit criteria and communicate readiness status to integration leadership.
  • Participate in planning, execution, and hyper care meetings while triaging active end-user incidents to maintain support continuity.
  • Maintain and improve end-user integration runbooks, deployment checklists, and quick-reference materials using lessons learned.
  • Coordinate vendor orders for computers, monitors, peripherals, scanners, printers, label printers, barcode scanners, handheld scanners, and dashboard systems; track purchase orders, delivery estimates, and equipment inventory.
  • Image and configure laptops and desktops to VSE’s standard build, enroll devices in Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager, and validate compliance policies.
  • Configure printers, label printers, scanners, network print queues, and device drivers; set up dashboard computers with appropriate displays, locked-down profiles, and data sources.
  • Apply VSE security baselines, BitLocker encryption, and endpoint management profiles.
  • Deploy and set up workstations, peripherals, and shared devices; perform professional wire management and position monitors, docking stations, and desk phone or headset equipment.
  • Label equipment with asset tags and coordinate network port activation, patching, and switch capacity with the infrastructure team.
  • Analyze end-user systems and data structures to determine effective information migration or transfer approaches and ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Train acquired-site employees on VSE hardware and standard software, including Microsoft 365 applications, VPN, MFA enrollment, and ServiceNow ticketing procedures.
  • Distribute site-appropriate quick-reference guides and onboarding materials and provide hands-on support during go-live.
  • Verify each user's access to required VSE applications, network resources, and shared drives; work with application owners and provisioning teams to resolve access gaps.
  • Complete per-user access validation checklist sign-offs, document and escalate access exceptions or licensing gaps, and confirm printer, scanner, and peripheral connectivity.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
