Technical Specialist, NVH

Lucid Motors•Newark, CA
•$166,500 - $244,200

About The Position

Lucid is seeking a highly skilled and experienced engineer to join its Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) team. The role focuses on advanced Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) modeling, simulation, acoustic testing, and sound-pack development to improve cabin and interior acoustic performance across next-generation electric vehicles. The successful candidate will deliver strong customer performance, collaborate across teams, solve problems, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The position is responsible for developing and validating full-vehicle and subsystem acoustic models and treatment solutions, interpreting simulation results to inform design decisions, and supporting vehicle-level sound-package targets. It also includes vehicle and component testing to improve airborne noise performance in prototypes and production vehicles.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, Physics, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience for an NVH Technical Specialist; at least 5 years for a Senior NVH Engineer.
  • Experience in acoustic package development and optimization, including sound transmission loss and sound absorption coefficient.
  • Proficiency in Statistical Energy Analysis (SEA) for high-frequency airborne noise simulation using ESI VA One and/or MSC Actran.
  • Strong understanding of digital signal processing, psychoacoustics, and sound quality metrics used to record, track, and report NVH performance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or PhD.
  • Experience taking a vehicle from concept to production.
  • Experience with NVH characterization and fault detection using microphones, accelerometers, acoustic cameras, particle velocity probes, or similar equipment.
  • Experience with Siemens TestLab and/or Artemis Suite.
  • Experience developing wind noise and/or HVAC noise.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the full-vehicle acoustic package for world-class NVH performance while balancing mass, packaging, and cost.
  • Lead development and execution of SEA models for full-vehicle and subsystem acoustic simulations, including BIW, closures, powertrain, and ancillaries.
  • Develop and validate acoustic treatment solutions, including heavy layers and absorbers, through simulation and testing.
  • Interpret SEA simulation results to guide design decisions and optimize vehicle acoustic performance.
  • Work with vehicle integration, body, powertrain, and thermal teams to incorporate acoustic considerations into system-level designs.
  • Support target setting and cascading for vehicle-level sound-package performance.
  • Correlate SEA models with physical test data and contribute to model validation.
  • Conduct vehicle- and component-level testing and assessments to improve airborne noise performance in prototypes and production vehicles.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability coverage.
  • Paid time off.
  • Paid holidays.
  • Paid sick leave.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Eligible employees may participate in the company equity program and/or a discretionary annual cash incentive program.
