About The Position

Varda is seeking an execution-focused Technical Sourcer to own sourcing strategy and top-of-funnel health across engineering disciplines including Avionics, GNC, Manufacturing, Mechanisms, Propulsion, Structures, Systems Integration & Test, and Thermal. The role focuses on generating candidate pipelines, representing Varda in the talent market, attracting high-caliber talent, and delivering hiring strategies that support the company’s production growth. The Technical Sourcer will partner closely with hiring managers, lead intake and calibration, research talent markets, and use candidate and market feedback to guide search strategy. They will communicate Varda’s story to candidates, support candidates through hiring decisions, and provide a thoughtful candidate experience. The role also includes mentoring others, improving recruiting processes, and promoting inclusive interview practices. The position is based onsite in El Segundo, California. Because employees may access export-controlled items, Varda’s policy is to hire U.S. persons who are authorized to access the technology without an export license.

Requirements

At least 2 years of technical sourcing experience, with a track record of filling hard-to-fill engineering roles and driving offers.
Hands-on expertise with LinkedIn Recruiter, including advanced Boolean searches and search strategy.
Demonstrated self-starter who takes accountability, operates comfortably amid ambiguity, and pushes searches forward.
Proven ability to source senior-level and leadership talent in competitive markets.
Clear, proactive communication with candidates and hiring managers, including keeping stakeholders informed.
Strong understanding of business functions to evaluate candidate depth and contextualize role requirements.
Must qualify as a U.S. person permitted to access export-controlled technology without an export license.

Nice To Haves

In-house recruiting experience at a hardware or deep-tech startup from Series A through growth stage.
Experience sourcing across multiple engineering functions, such as Avionics, GNC, Manufacturing, Mechanisms, Propulsion, Structures, Systems Integration & Test, and Thermal.
Experience with Greenhouse ATS.
Exposure to ITAR or export-controlled hiring environments.
An active network in the Los Angeles aerospace corridor.
Familiarity with diversity sourcing strategies and tools.

Responsibilities

Own technical sourcing strategies, including intake and calibration.
Consistently generate candidate pipelines and deliver hires for hard-to-fill engineering roles.
Research talent markets, measure response rates, track market feedback, and use findings to inform sourcing strategy and partners.
Build strong hiring manager partnerships, run intake sessions, advise on market conditions and compensation, and adapt search approaches as needed.
Represent Varda compellingly to candidates and guide them through hiring decisions.
Provide candidates with a thoughtful, human experience throughout the hiring process.
Mentor others, improve recruiting processes, and champion inclusive interview practices that support diverse teams.
