About The Position

This is an office-based position in Markham, ON, requiring travel based on business and customer needs. The role involves preparing quotations, processing orders, tracking the sales pipeline, and providing technical sales support. The representative will understand the technical aspects of products, explain them to customers, answer technical questions, and support commercial opportunities. A key part of the role is assessing customer needs, recommending solutions, and potentially conducting site visits. Product customization and collaboration with engineering teams are also involved. The position requires developing sales strategies, negotiating terms, and providing post-sales support, including product implementation and troubleshooting. Additionally, the role involves market research, providing feedback for product development, and implementing continuous improvement strategies, including managing Lean projects and leading cross-functional teams for process improvement.

Requirements

  • College or university technical degree required.
  • 1-2 years of experience in manufacturing management.
  • A minimum of 2 years engineering experience in the manufacturing industry.
  • Proven hands-on performer – willing and capable of building teams and a business in an entrepreneurial setting.
  • Experience in a customer service-based manufacturing company characterized by engineered to order, continuous production.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to articulate the company’s ongoing strategic vision into sound operating plans and processes.
  • Ability to focus and manage a significant workload.
  • Ability to foster productive interaction with and among team members.
  • Willing to travel based on business needs and/or customer needs.
  • Mandatory use and/or wearing of all personal protective equipment provided by the Company.
  • Understand and complete necessary health & safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process customer quotations and revisions accurately and promptly.
  • Act as a point of contact for customer inquiries regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and order status.
  • Prepare order entries and coordinate hand-off to the order management team.
  • Support outside sales representatives with account coordination, follow-ups, and opportunity tracking.
  • Provide detailed product explanations and demonstrations to customers.
  • Answer technical questions from customers and address concerns about product performance, installation, and operation.
  • Work to develop and support commercial opportunities within the sales pipeline.
  • Assess customer needs, understand requirements, and recommend the best solutions.
  • Conduct jobsite visits or phone consultations to understand customer operational needs and product integration.
  • Customize or suggest product/service modifications to fit specific customer requirements.
  • Work with engineering or product development teams to ensure products meet technical specifications.
  • Prepare and deliver technical product layouts, presentations, and proposals.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to develop strategies for selling technical products.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers.
  • Provide ongoing technical support to customers after the sale for successful product implementation.
  • Assist with product installation, troubleshooting, or training.
  • Stay updated on market trends, new technologies, and competitor products.
  • Provide feedback to the product development team regarding customer preferences and product performance.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies and initiatives.
  • Manage the planning, facilitation, and completion of Lean projects.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to identify and analyze process improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct data analysis to assess current processes and measure performance metrics.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of improvement projects.
  • Ensure open communication by keeping Management informed of Project status and coordinating Lean activities.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to teams on improvement tools and technologies.
  • Inform Management of additional support needed to achieve desired results.
  • Model safety for other employees at all times.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses and support in determining corrective actions.
  • Practice safe work habits as detailed in safety policies and procedures.
