About The Position

WQS Non-Destructive Testing is searching for a project Technical Report Writer to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta! As a Technical Report Writer, you will play a key role in supporting our turnaround operations by preparing, reviewing, and compiling Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) inspection reports and documentation. You will work closely with field technicians, supervisors, and clients to ensure reporting is accurate, complete, and delivered in a timely manner to support critical project milestones. This is a temporary turnaround position. Schedule, shift length, and rotation will be based on client requirements and turnaround demands. Extended hours, evenings, weekends, and overtime may be required.

Requirements

  • Must be Fit for Duty at all times and able to comply with the Canadian Model for Providing a Safe Workplace, including alcohol and drug testing.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality, accurate documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced turnaround environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with field personnel and project teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience preparing technical reports within the NDT, inspection, industrial, or oil and gas industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of NDT methods, terminology, and inspection processes is considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with client reporting systems and document management platforms is an asset.
  • Experience supporting turnaround or shutdown projects is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and finalize NDT inspection reports in accordance with client specifications and company standards.
  • Compile and organize inspection data received from field technicians and supervisors.
  • Ensure reports are accurate, complete, and submitted within required turnaround timelines.
  • Verify supporting documentation, certifications, and inspection records for completeness.
  • Maintain document control processes and ensure all records are properly filed and retained.
  • Communicate with technicians, operations teams, and clients to clarify findings, obtain missing information, and resolve reporting discrepancies.
  • Assist with the preparation of turnover packages and final project documentation.
  • Support quality assurance initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve reporting processes and consistency.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of inspection data and client information.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and client site requirements.
