About The Position

The Certified Condition Report Writer completes vehicle condition reports to identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems. This role involves inspecting all customer vehicles at the time of receipt, including the interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, and engine compartment. The writer notes any damage or repair to the frame, paint, or other components, as well as engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio functionality, and tire condition. The position requires documenting vehicle condition by completing the appropriate Vehicle Condition Report (VCR), taking digital pictures, and performing computer data entry in a timely manner, preparing vehicles for both in-lane and online sales. Effective communication with management and staff is essential for a seamless auction experience and issue resolution. The role also ensures compliance with auction procedures, policies, and safety guidelines, maintaining a secure working environment. Additional duties may include locating and moving vehicles, and starting or jump-starting vehicles.

Requirements

  • 1 year of car auction industry experience.
  • Demonstrated organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with buyers, sellers, and other staff members.
  • Attention to detail and ability to accurately verify and record vehicle information.
  • Familiarity with auction procedures, terminology, and documentation.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to work in auction lot setting, including moving for most of the day.

Responsibilities

  • Identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical problems by inspecting all customer vehicles at time of receipt; interior, exterior, odometer reading, trunk area, engine compartment, noting any damage or repair to frame, paint or other, engine noise, AC/heater operation, radio, tire condition, etc.
  • Document vehicle condition by completing appropriate Vehicle Condition Report (VCR), taking digital pictures and computer data entry in a timely manner, preparing for in lane and online sales.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other staff members to facilitate a seamless auction experience and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with auction procedures, policies, and safety guidelines, taking necessary actions to maintain a secure working environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned including but not limited to locating and moving vehicles, starting and/or jump-starting vehicles, etc.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
