About The Position

CTG is seeking to fill a Technical Project Manager (IBM Z Migration) position for our client. This is an ongoing contract role that is fully remote. The primary responsibility is to manage software migration projects for clients on the IBM Z Mainframe platform. The role involves developing and managing comprehensive project plans, including schedules, budgets, scope, resources, milestones, and contractual deliverables. The Technical Project Manager will consult with management and stakeholders to define project goals, timelines, funding, procedures, and resource requirements. Key activities include leading project planning and execution, managing risks, change control, issue resolution, and status reporting. Effective communication of project status, milestones, scope changes, challenges, risks, and requirements to both client and internal leadership is crucial. The role requires managing cross-functional teams and coordinating resources from the client, consulting teams, and third-party vendors. Additionally, the Technical Project Manager will review processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, quality, and project delivery, and establish/promote project management best practices and continuous process improvement. Travel to client sites across North America may be required as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong technical project management and project planning skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project scope, cost, schedule, risk, issue, and change management.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification required.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

Nice To Haves

  • IBM Z/Mainframe knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing multi-year project plans involving client, consulting, and third-party resources.
  • Experience with IBM Z software products preferred.
  • Experience with IBM Z application development, including COBOL or PL/I, is a plus.
