About The Position

CTG is seeking to fill a Project Executive – IBM Z Migration Programs position for our client. This is an ongoing contract role that is primarily remote, with some travel to client sites potentially required. The role involves providing executive-level project management for large, complex, multi-workstream software migration programs specifically supporting clients on the IBM Z platform. The Project Executive will offer business direction, leadership, and guidance to other Project Managers assigned to the program. Key responsibilities include consulting with management to establish program goals, timelines, funding, procedures, resource allocation, and delivery strategies. The role also entails leading project planning and execution, managing scope, cost, schedule, resources, risks, dependencies, and contractual deliverables across multiple workstreams. Regular reporting to executive and leadership teams on program status, changes, challenges, risks, milestones, and requirements is essential. Communication with internal management and customer leadership regarding program status, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and overall delivery health is critical. Furthermore, the Project Executive will analyze processes and procedures to identify improvements, drive the implementation of best practices, and continuously enhance program management effectiveness, governance, quality, and delivery practices. The role requires managing multiple interrelated, multi-year projects and customer initiatives concurrently, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and supporting customer change management programs to ensure effective communication and adoption of major technology and organizational changes.

Requirements

  • Strong technical project and program management skills with demonstrated experience leading complex, enterprise-scale initiatives.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including planning, scheduling, tracking, change control, risk management, and resource management.
  • Ability to organize competing priorities, manage ambiguity, and adapt effectively to changing business and technical requirements.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, business stakeholders, customer leadership, and senior management.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and PowerPoint.
  • At least 10 years of technical project management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional technical teams with overall responsibility for scope, cost, schedule, resources, risks, and contractual deliverables.
  • Experience managing multiple interrelated, multi-year projects for one or more customers concurrently.
  • Demonstrated success managing multi-year customer change management programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of IBM Z technologies and software products is highly desirable.
  • Experience with IBM Z mainframe environments and software migration programs preferred.
  • Experience with IBM Z software products preferred.
  • Experience with application development on IBM Z, including COBOL or PL/I, is a plus.
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Microsoft Office certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive-level project management for large, complex, multi-workstream software migration programs supporting clients on the IBM Z platform.
  • Provide business direction, leadership, and guidance to other Project Managers assigned to the program.

  • Communicate regularly with internal management and customer leadership regarding program status, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and overall delivery health.
  • Review and analyze processes and procedures to identify opportunities for improvement, increased efficiency, and enhanced delivery quality.
  • Drive implementation of process improvements and program best practices across the client account.
  • Monitor, assess, and continuously improve program management effectiveness, governance, quality, and delivery practices.
  • Manage multiple interrelated, multi-year projects and customer initiatives concurrently while maintaining alignment with business and mission-focused objectives.
  • Support customer change management programs and ensure effective communication and adoption of major technology and organizational changes.
