About The Position

Motive is hiring a Senior Technical Program Manager for its embedded Technical Program Management team. The role leads complex, cross-functional programs spanning hardware, firmware, software, product, operations, and external partners. The manager will guide programs from planning through launch and sustaining phases, establish operating mechanisms, manage risks and tradeoffs, and drive predictable delivery against business and product objectives. The position is based in San Francisco on a hybrid schedule and reports to the Manager, Technical Program Management. The successful candidate will bring technical judgment, structured problem-solving, curiosity, and the ability to create clarity in complex environments. They will partner with engineering and cross-functional leaders, build consensus across competing priorities, and improve processes for delivering high-quality products.

Requirements

At least 6 years of experience in technical program management, engineering operations, product development, or a related field.
Experience leading complex, cross-functional technical programs involving multiple engineering disciplines and partner teams.
Strong understanding of program planning, dependency management, risk mitigation, launch readiness, and product development processes.
Ability to understand technical tradeoffs and use structured analysis to guide decisions without owning the underlying engineering design.
Demonstrated success building consensus and driving execution across teams with competing priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting recommendations and status updates to leadership.
Experience with program management tools and structured operating mechanisms for tracking milestones, owners, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
Must be authorized to receive and access commodities and technologies controlled under U.S. Export Administration Regulations.

Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end planning and execution for complex, cross-functional technical programs.
Partner with hardware, firmware, software, product, operations, quality, supply chain, and external teams to align priorities and drive execution.
Establish program plans, milestones, dependencies, deliverables, decision points, and success measures.
Drive phase-gate reviews, launch-readiness assessments, and go/no-go decisions.
Identify technical, operational, and schedule risks and develop mitigation plans with program stakeholders.
Translate complex technical discussions into clear decisions, actions, tradeoffs, and escalation paths.
Communicate program status, risks, dependencies, and recommendations to team members and leadership.
Improve cross-functional development processes, operating mechanisms, and program management practices.
