Technical Program Manager

Volantis Semiconductor, Inc.•Boston, MA

About The Position

The Technical Program Manager will own a program across wafer-scale photonic systems and work embedded with the engineering team responsible for much of the program, spanning areas such as packaging and assembly, silicon, and system bring-up. There are two openings. This is a hands-on role involving ownership of schedules, risks, and handoffs between teams. The TPM works alongside engineers in technical details and is expected to drive work directly, rather than only track status.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience in semiconductor or hardware development as an engineer, a program manager, or both.
  • Experience taking programs from development to working hardware.
  • Deep working knowledge of at least one of advanced packaging and assembly, or ASIC/SoC and system hardware.
  • Clear, direct communication with engineers, partners, and leadership.
  • Ability to closely read specifications and identify gaps, conflicts, and missing owners.
  • Action-oriented approach to building and driving plans and schedules.
  • Experience running work with external partners such as foundries, OSATs, IP vendors, or design-services vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with advanced packaging such as 2.5D/3D, chiplet, or flip-chip, including complex multi-die packages.
  • Experience with chip-on-wafer (CoW) assembly, including mechanical stress and thermal effects.
  • Experience with photonic, optoelectronic, or other heterogeneous-material assemblies.
  • Experience with reliability qualification, failure analysis, test vehicles, and DOEs.
  • Experience with advanced-node ASIC/SoC tape-outs and third-party IP or design-services partners.
  • Experience with multi-die, chiplet, or MCM programs, including chip-package co-design.
  • Experience with system hardware, including boards, power, thermal, and mechanical components, through bring-up.
  • Experience with optical I/O or high-speed SerDes programs.
  • Experience with data-center or OCP-style hardware.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

  • Own one program across wafer-scale photonic systems.
  • Work embedded with the engineering team carrying the program, spanning packaging and assembly, silicon, and system bring-up.
  • Own program schedules, risks, and handoffs between teams.
  • Work through technical details alongside engineers and drive program work to completion.
  • Build practical plans and schedules that engineers use, and drive them to completion.
  • Run work with external partners such as foundries, OSATs, IP vendors, and design-services vendors.
