About The Position

The Technical Program Manager – Applied AI & Agents is a senior-level strategic professional responsible for managing the end-to-end lifecycle of complex, cross-functional Applied AI and agentic engineering initiatives across Citi. The role drives central program coordination, line-of-business engagement, intake qualification, delivery milestone tracking, and second-line-of-defense risk and governance alignment across factory operations, maintaining close operational ties with the Group-Wide AI PMO, Model Risk Management (MRM), and CISO Threat Operations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience in technical program management, including significant experience managing complex, high-visibility enterprise technology initiatives.
• Strong technical literacy in AI/ML delivery lifecycles, generative AI prompt and evaluation workflows, agentic architectures, and distributed cloud/on-premises deployment patterns.
• Experience defining program scorecards, tracking computational and token economics, and establishing data-driven delivery visibility mechanisms.
• Proven ability to navigate matrixed global organizations and partner effectively with Managing Directors, CIOs, and second-line-of-defense control functions.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex technical progress and risks to executive leadership.

Responsibilities

• Drive central program execution and governance across Applied AI Factory delivery streams, aligning technical dependencies between engineering pods, enterprise infrastructure teams, and business units.
• Lead line-of-business engagement, scoping sessions, intake qualification, and SLA tracking for AI agent project requests across Markets, Services, Banking, PBWM, and Risk/Operations.
• Establish and oversee program-level dashboards tracking delivery velocity, stage-gate approvals, token consumption economics via the R2D2 Gateway, inference cost efficiency, and realized business ROI.
• Facilitate fast-track governance operations, including MRM reviews, PTS onboarding, and risk tiering for active agent deployments.
• Coordinate cross-pod technical alignment with second-line-of-defense control partners, including MRM, CISO, and ICRM, to ensure transparent risk management throughout the agent lifecycle.
• Apply Agile/Scrum practices to AI delivery, managing sprint velocity, dependency roadmaps, and blocker resolution across concurrent agent squads.
• Assess risks in business decisions, consider the firm's reputation, and safeguard Citi, its clients, and assets by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policy; applying sound ethical judgment; and transparently escalating, managing, and reporting control issues.
