Technical Program Manager Intern, Reality Labs — 2027

Meta•Menlo Park, CA
•$6,688 - $10,800

About The Position

The Technical Program Manager Intern will own a scoped workstream on a live Reality Labs Devices program, working at the intersection of engineering execution and business outcomes. The intern will build schedules, track dependencies and risks, escalate blockers, and translate hardware development and manufacturing details into cost, schedule, and resourcing implications for technical and business audiences. They will work with hardware engineers, technical and operations program managers, finance and sourcing partners, and functional leads to learn how consumer hardware is built, funded, sourced, and shipped. Most projects address recurring operations problems using Meta's internal AI tools and data platforms. The intern will be paired with a mentor and present results to leadership at the end of the internship. Projects are determined closer to the start date based on business needs. Example projects include tracing supply-chain changes through factory output and inventory, building cost models, reconciling bills of materials, automating workflows and exception notifications, consolidating program status and risk metrics, and converting operating playbooks into structured processes.

Requirements

  • Currently in the final year of a Bachelor's degree or pursuing a Master's degree in Engineering (such as Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Computer Science, or Operations Research), Supply Chain, Operations Management, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience framing and solving ambiguous analytical problems through coursework, research, projects, or work experience.
  • Communication and execution skills demonstrated through coursework, projects, or work experience.
  • Experience working with data in spreadsheets, SQL, or a scripting language to develop and support a recommendation.
  • Knowledge of supply chain, manufacturing, logistics, or operations concepts through coursework, projects, or work experience.
  • Experience identifying changes to improve systems and processes through coursework, projects, or work experience.
  • Experience working on a team or cross-functional project and presenting findings in writing and in person.
  • Intent to return to a full-time degree program after completing the internship.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment by the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience gathering requirements from multiple stakeholders and translating them into a defined scope.
  • Experience building project roadmaps or schedules and breaking work into actionable items.
  • Experience prioritizing competing stakeholder requirements in an ambiguous, fast-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated technical and business acumen together, through a dual degree, coursework, projects, or work experience.
  • Exposure to consumer electronics hardware, bills of materials, or cost methods such as should-cost and design-to-cost.
  • Familiarity with hardware development lifecycles or stage-gate processes such as Product Development Process (PDP).
  • Exposure to business operations such as budgeting, procurement, or supply planning.
  • Experience using Python, SQL, or data visualization to automate an analysis or workflow, including dashboarding and operational reporting.
  • Experience building process automation, workflow tooling, or data pipelines, including notification and alerting systems.
  • AI fluency, including comfort using AI tools in daily program management work such as drafting, summarizing, research, and status synthesis.
  • Experience integrating AI or ML tools into business processes or tooling to drive measurable impact, such as automating status reporting, surfacing risks from tracker data, or reducing manual coordination overhead.
  • Experience with project tracking tools such as Jira and Confluence, or with data and dashboard tooling.
  • Interest in AR/VR, wearables, or smart glasses.

Responsibilities

  • With direction from a manager, own a scoped project end to end: frame the problem, define success measures, deliver a working solution, and present results and recommendations to leadership.
  • Create project structure, build a communication plan, and drive accountability for progress on the workstream.
  • Gather requirements from cross-functional partners across engineering, operations, program management, sourcing, trade, and vendor teams.
  • Distinguish essential requirements from optional ones and document scoping tradeoffs.
  • Work with partner teams to meet established program goals.
  • Build and maintain schedules and roadmaps, track dependencies and risks, and escalate blockers early.
  • Analyze supply chain and financial data, including demand, supply, inventory, build plans, and bill of materials cost, to identify risks and opportunities and recommend actions.
  • Map processes, supply chains, and product structures to identify opportunities to simplify, automate, or improve reliability.
  • Identify and execute process or tooling improvements that improve efficiency, traceability, or cost.
  • Use Meta's internal AI tools and certified data sources to build solutions that are repeatable across products.
  • Translate between technical and business audiences, converting engineering details into cost, schedule, and resourcing implications, and vice versa.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in writing and reviews about status, risks, tradeoffs, and requests.
  • Participate in technical discussions, highlight problems early, and involve the appropriate people to resolve them.
  • Document workflows and hand off a sustainable, supportable solution at the end of the internship.
