About The Position

The Pixel Device Core Software team is responsible for the core software running on Pixel phones. Our team comprises the major software subsystems such as core bring-up, performance, power, charging, thermals, storage, memory, graphics, display, and sensors. In this role, you will be directly involved with shaping and driving our multi-year roadmap for phones and custom silicon. Charging is a key driver for Pixel device sales and experiences. With Pixel’s product portfolio growth and new investments, nailing device fundamentals is more important and challenging than ever. In order to deliver more helpful experiences effectively, we need to work cross-functionally and deliver enriching features while considering system impacts on key areas and user experiences. The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience in program management.
  • Experience with embedded software development.
  • Experience with charging engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Experience with mobile devices and Android software development.
  • Ability to take an ambiguous problem, crisply frame the challenge, identify a path forward, and drive an initiative over the finish-line.
  • Ability to work effectively with highly technical engineering teams and help them deliver against a backlog.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with software engineers to ensure wired and wireless phone charging capabilities are brought up and productized at power, performance, and thermals.
  • Work closely with leads and partners to ensure software and roadmap feature alignment for current and future programs.
  • Define and report metrics on system stability, and create dashboards and visualizations to communicate findings.
  • Drive build integration and manage regressions. Anticipate stability risks and proactively mitigate them.
  • Identify communication gaps, manage issue escalations, and provide support to teams balancing engaged priorities.
