About The Position

Optum’s Enterprise Strategy & Transformation Team works across UnitedHealth Group businesses to promote consumer-centered innovation at scale. The team uses analytics, data science, intelligent process discovery, re-engineering, and automation to identify business challenges, anticipate trends, and deploy scalable solutions supporting satisfied patients, clinician wellbeing, affordable care, and high-quality outcomes. As a Product Owner on the AI and Automation team, you will help design automated solutions for existing business processes and support process redesign aligned with business requirements and the organization’s digital strategy. The role works with business partners and cross-functional technology teams to define requirements, create and maintain product backlogs, support testing, and deliver products that meet agreed business needs and quality standards. The position offers the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S., subject to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of experience creating and maintaining effective relationships in a professional environment.
At least 2 years of healthcare experience.
At least 2 years of proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
At least 1 year of experience gathering and working through business and/or technical requirements.
At least 1 year of experience communicating with leadership.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of experience with CSP Facets claims processing.
At least 2 years of experience as a business analyst.
At least 2 years of experience using Microsoft Visio.
At least 1 year of experience working on automation, AI, or project redesign projects.
At least 1 year of experience in the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile methodologies.
At least 1 year of experience with SQL.
At least 1 year of experience with SAS, Tableau, Jira, or Rally.
At least 1 year of leadership presentation experience.
At least 1 year of experience understanding workflow-based logic and conceptualizing it as an automated solution.

Responsibilities

Work with business partners to identify business needs and project scope, conduct feasibility analysis, and prioritize deliverables.
Define needs and objectives, and develop and document business requirements that capture client needs, including use-case-based requirements, user stories, and a requirements traceability matrix.
Collaborate with developers, quality assurance analysts, architects, business partners, and other technology teams to ensure requirements and designs are understood.
Support quality assurance and user acceptance testing by writing test scripts, executing test cases, documenting defects, and participating in defect triage and code promotion using application lifecycle management tools.
Ensure deliverables meet agreed quality standards and non-functional requirements and satisfy the stated business need.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute product roadmaps and release plans.
Own, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog, including defining user stories and acceptance criteria and assessing defect impact to inform decisions.
Regularly communicate progress, status, risks, and issues to Automation Leadership, partners, and stakeholders; resolve problems and provide timely responses and solutions.
Use AI and automation tools in day-to-day product management to improve efficiency, accelerate delivery, and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement.
