O'Keefe Media Group•West Palm Beach, FL
•$85,000 - $110,000•Onsite

About The Position

O’Keefe Media Group (OMG), an independent media organization producing investigative reporting, undercover journalism, and original programming, seeks a hands-on Technical Operations Engineer. This is a sole-technologist, individual-contributor role responsible for maintaining the organization’s websites, revenue systems, cybersecurity, office technology, production facilities, and investigative field equipment. The role calls for urgency, practical troubleshooting, discretion, and end-to-end ownership rather than staff or vendor management. The engineer maintains OMG’s websites and revenue technology, including hosting, CMS platforms, campaign pages, CRM systems, donations, merchandise, email, analytics, and their integrations. The role also protects accounts, devices, investigative information, and data; keeps office infrastructure and employee technology dependable; and ensures studios, live-production systems, editing workstations, and field equipment are ready for use. The position also covers documentation, operational risk management, and continuity. The engineer communicates technology costs and replacement needs, responds to urgent issues during live stories and campaigns—including evenings or weekends—and engages external specialists when necessary while retaining ownership of outcomes. The role is based on-site in West Palm Beach, Florida, with travel up to 10%.

  • Ability to troubleshoot cameras, audio systems, and small electronic devices.
  • Strong judgment, confidentiality, responsiveness, and ability to resolve urgent issues independently.

  • Maintain GA4, pixels, UTMs, and conversion events for marketing and revenue reporting.
  • Enforce MFA, password management, least-privilege access, and phishing defenses.
  • Securely administer Google Workspace and/or Microsoft 365 and promptly revoke access for departing employees.

  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps and keep documentation current.
  • Communicate operational risks, technology costs, and replacement needs early with clear recommendations.
