About The Position
The Technical Instructor is based at GMF Steel Group’s headquarters in Lakeland, Florida, and leads the Apprenticeship and Welding programs. The role regularly assesses workforce capabilities, identifies skill gaps, and implements targeted training to support employee development and organizational needs. The Instructor fosters an engaging learning environment, maintains an appropriate balance of discipline, and teaches students. Reliability, responsibility, independence, and initiative are important for this role.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- At least 5 years of teaching or training experience.
- At least 5 years of welding experience.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Bilingual ability.
Responsibilities
- Educate and train students to develop their skills as proficient journeymen and welders.
- Provide administrative support for course logistics, including scheduling and curriculum development.
- Meet established student performance goals.
- Work with the Talent Development Manager to coordinate maintenance of student performance profiles, audit records, and attendance records.
- Maintain a safe instructional environment.
- Complete documentation, maintain records, and assist in monitoring essential data, including industry-recognized certifications.
- Access computer databases to review student test scores, complete lesson plans, and log attendance records.
- Assess workforce capabilities, identify skill gaps, and implement targeted training solutions.
