About The Position

We’re looking for a Technical Installation & Support Engineer to join our Digital Workspace team and help deliver exceptional on-site installations and customer support across the UK. As a Technical Installation & Support Engineer, you will be responsible for working with our Sales and Pre-sales teams, delivering high-quality technical installations, and providing technical remote and/or on-site break/fix support for our customers. You will also assist our Technical Architects with various technical tasks as needed. In addition, the role will involve close collaboration with suppliers and contractors, ensuring proposed systems are fit for purpose and can be both implemented and supported. You will be responsible for reviewing technical drawings and project specifications, scoping hardware requirements, and ensuring all components are accurately defined ahead of deployment. The position also includes the configuration and deployment of software solutions, including CMS platforms (Content Management Systems) and remote management tools for digital signage, audio-visual and smart technology systems. Alongside on-site installation work, you will support pre-staging, setup, and testing of equipment, ensuring systems are fully prepared prior to installation. This is a predominantly field-based, hands-on role combining pre-sales support, installation delivery, system configuration, and customer-facing support.

Requirements

  • Proven experience within an IT or technology-focused environment.
  • Strong understanding of hardware, networking basics, and system integration principles.
  • Experience configuring and deploying software platforms, ideally including CMS systems or remote management tools.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and project documentation.
  • Strong organisational abilities with an excellent eye for detail, ensuring precision in documentation, configuration, and equipment handling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (or similar tools) for documentation, reporting, and communication.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, enabling effective collaboration with internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workload, and adapt within a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Proactive individual who can work both independently and as part of a wider project team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues both remotely and on-site.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a dynamic and “can-do” attitude.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (required for site-based work).
  • Ability to travel throughout the United Kingdom, including regular overnight stays, sometimes at short notice.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AV (Audio-Visual), digital signage, or telecommunications is highly desirable; however, transferable skills from related technical fields will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out technical site surveys and produce detailed reports for the relevant Salesperson or Technical Architect, ensuring all requirements are accurately captured.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales team to support pre-sales activities, including validating solutions, and ensuring proposed systems are technically and commercially viable.
  • Review technical drawings, schematics, and project specifications to scope hardware requirements and ensure accuracy prior to deployment.
  • Define and specify hardware components required for each project, ensuring compatibility, performance, scalability and supportability.
  • Assist the workshop team with pre-staging, setup, and configuration of equipment prior to deployment.
  • Install and commission a range of smart technology equipment, including video conferencing systems, digital signage, and media units.
  • Configure, deploy, and support software solutions including CMS platforms and remote management tools for digital signage, audio-visual and smart technology systems.
  • Carry out on-site installations, taking ownership of the technical setup and working alongside other installation engineers and contractors to ensure projects are delivered to a high standard.
  • Complete post-installation reports and technical documentation, ensuring all systems are properly recorded and handed over to the Service team.
  • Work with the Service team by attending sites to diagnose and resolve technical issues, escalating to suppliers where necessary for warranty-supported products.
  • Support the Smart Tech Technical Architects as required, including involvement in product evaluations and technical due diligence tasks.
