Bunkerhill Health•San Francisco, CA
•Hybrid

About The Position

The Technical Implementation Program Manager will be the second member of Bunkerhill’s implementations team, working directly with the VP of Implementations to shape how the company takes AI solutions from signed contract to live clinical workflows. The role supports 5 to 10 health systems at a time and owns customer implementations across multiple use cases, from initial workflow discovery through stable production and hypercare. The position combines technical architecture, hands-on healthcare integration work, and program delivery. The manager will design and implement technical approaches with Bunkerhill engineers and customer IT teams, working directly with interfaces, data, and authorization flows. The role is hybrid and based in San Francisco, with up to 25% travel to clients.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of implementation or integration work at a health system, EHR vendor, or healthtech company.
  • Hands-on experience building healthcare integrations, rather than only managing the people who build them.
  • Experience working inside an EHR in production.
  • Experience using HL7 v2, FHIR R4, OAuth2, and app registration on real projects, including troubleshooting interface issues.
  • Experience setting up feeds through SQL extracts such as Epic Clarity, HL7, or Bulk FHIR, and conducting or directing data sampling and reconciliation.
  • Experience writing results into an EHR or clinical system using FHIR create APIs, Z-segments, or portal APIs.
  • Experience owning an implementation from discovery through hypercare and making decisions when specifications are unclear.
  • Ability and willingness to manage several health systems at once.

Responsibilities

  • Own each customer's lifecycle across multiple use cases, from the first workflow conversation through stable production.
  • Map clinical workflows, data sources, triggers, and required writebacks; design and defend the technical approach and scope.
  • Guide customer teams in setting up cohort feeds and triggers through SQL extracts such as Epic Clarity, HL7 v2 feeds, or Bulk FHIR.
  • Validate end-to-end data flows by sampling, reconciling against Epic and ancillary systems, investigating edge cases, and setting up monitoring.
  • Install and configure the Epic on FHIR app, including OAuth2 background user, security points, and app registration, and guide SMART on FHIR setups where appropriate.
  • Select and implement writeback channels for each use case, such as FHIR create APIs, HL7 Z-segments, portal APIs, or SMART workflows.
  • Build and run delivery plans, manage risks and dependencies, and drive engineers and customer IT teams toward deadlines through go-live and hypercare.
  • Turn successful implementation approaches into reusable frameworks for the engineering team.
