About The Position

The Technical Engineer IV works closely with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams to implement and manage the design, development, and execution of technical solutions that meet or exceed the organization’s current and future needs. The role may involve infrastructure architecture and design; research and development of new or expanded systems; creation of technology standards and policies; analysis of user requirements and operational constraints; unit and system integration testing; and user acceptance testing. The position independently interacts with business partners at varying associate and management levels to clarify problems and opportunities and elicit business requirements. It coordinates vendor interactions and resources as needed and mentors and coaches less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators. The engineer reviews documentation, proposals, and changes proposed by less experienced staff, continuously builds knowledge of Financial Services trends and technologies, promotes industry best practices, and maintains working knowledge of company applications, systems, development environments, and vendor technologies. The role also requires adherence to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with its Risk Appetite; escalation of risk-related issues to management; and maintenance of internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points and applicable issues raised by external regulators. The position is based at 1 Seneca St, Buffalo, NY 14203, and requires in-office work four days each week.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related field of study.
Five years of experience in the job offered or as a Technical Engineer, Cloud Engineer Consultant, Senior Software Engineer, Operations Engineer, or in a related occupation.
Four years of experience with systems design, management, architecture, and development lifecycle.
Four years of experience with infrastructure lifecycle, IT Service Management, infrastructure design technologies, and industry and vendor, server/client, and virtual technologies.
Two years of experience with Azure, Ansible, Terraform, Dev-Ops, and Gitlab.
Experience of any duration with system design and development for complex applications, data management and interchange, industry-standard implementation approaches, and technical engineering.
Ability to work in the office four days each week at 1 Seneca St, Buffalo, NY 14203.

Responsibilities

Work with Technology management, senior Engineers, and support teams to implement and manage technical solution design, development, and execution.
Perform infrastructure architecture and design, research and development of systems, and creation of technology standards and policies as needed.
Analyze user requirements and operational constraints; conduct unit testing, system integration testing, and user acceptance testing as applicable.
Independently engage business partners to clarify problems or opportunities and elicit business requirements.
Coordinate vendor interactions and vendor resources as needed.
Mentor and coach less experienced engineers, technicians, and integrators.
Review documentation, proposals, and changes proposed by less experienced staff.
Continuously expand knowledge of Financial Services trends, practices, and technologies.
Follow and promote industry best practices, standards, and procedures.
Maintain working knowledge of company applications, systems, development environments, and vendor technologies and services.
Adhere to company risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the company’s Risk Appetite.
Identify risk-related issues requiring escalation to management.
Maintain internal control standards and timely implementation of internal and external audit points and applicable issues raised by external regulators.
