Requirements

  • 3–5 years’ experience in technical writing for defense or engineering programs
  • Proficiency in XML, SGML, Arbortext, UltraEdit, and graphics tools (such as ISO draw)
  • Strong working knowledge of MIL-STD-40051, MIL-STD-2361, MIL-PRF-63002, and MIL-PRF-63033 standards
  • Demonstrated experience developing IETMs and technical graphics
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
  • Ability to write clear, concise technical content and procedures
  • Skilled in researching and verifying technical information through collaboration and documentation review
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading or supporting Technical Publication Validation/Verification and Logistics Demonstration events
  • Proficiency with IADS 4.0, XSL-FO, XSLT, scripting, and content management systems (WindChill, S1000D CSDB)
  • Advanced experience with LMI systems (SLIC Wave, Power Log J) and GEIA-STD-0007 compliance
  • 3D drafting proficiency (Pro-E Creo or equivalent)
  • Military background or experience as MLRS/HIMARS Operator or Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

  • Develop and edit technical documentation, including procedure manuals, user guides, and maintenance instructions for military and commercial systems
  • Prepare Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), Depot Maintenance Work Requirements (DMWRs), Repair Parts and Special Tools Lists (RPSTL), and technical graphics compliant with military standards
  • Acquire technical knowledge by interviewing subject matter experts, observing production methods, and researching technical specifications and engineering drawings
  • Oversee the preparation and integration of illustrative materials such as diagrams, sketches, and charts
  • Conduct thorough quality reviews to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with all requirements
  • Collaborate with engineers, program teams, and customers, coordinating technical meetings to drive successful documentation exchange and compliance
  • Assist in the development and population of technical data in Logistics Management Information (LMI) systems (GEIA-STD-0007 compliant)
  • Support program requirements by working overtime and traveling as needed
