About The Position

Johnson Health Tech North America is seeking a Technical Documentation Specialist II to transform complex technical information into clear, user-friendly resources. This role is crucial for enhancing the understanding and support of their fitness equipment among teams, technicians, and customers. The specialist will leverage technical curiosity, problem-solving skills, and strong communication abilities to produce impactful documentation, service bulletins, visuals, and videos. This position serves as a vital link between various departments including technical support, engineering, quality, operations, product management, and factory teams, directly supporting technicians, customer-facing teams, and product launches. The role offers the opportunity to manage documentation projects from inception to completion, improve organizational information flow, and integrate writing, troubleshooting, visual development, video production, process improvement, and hands-on technical work.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree in a technical or communication-related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a technical-related field; fitness equipment experience is a plus.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including experience creating step-by-step assembly or service documents.
  • Hands-on aptitude for assembling, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, or supporting equipment.
  • Experience working with customer, technician, or field feedback to improve processes and materials.
  • Valid driver’s license required for local travel; successful completion of pre-employment and annual MVR checks required to drive on behalf of the company.
  • Expert-level Microsoft Office skills, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP or similar systems.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visio for troubleshooting documents.
  • Ability to learn new software and identify better ways to create, manage, and share documentation.
  • Strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, initiative, and comfort working through ambiguity.
  • Clear communication style and the ability to collaborate with a wide variety of teams and personalities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or communication-related field preferred.
  • Fitness equipment experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical documentation projects and drive them through completion.
  • Create, update, and organize service bulletins, assembly instructions, troubleshooting guides, and support materials.
  • Develop photos, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and videos that make technical procedures easier to follow.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to gather accurate information and keep documentation current.
  • Support new product launches by ensuring technical support teams have the information they need.
  • Maintain feedback loops with internal teams, suppliers, technicians, and customers to continuously improve documentation quality.
